While this is really the local hangout for beers and ciders, they also do tasty evening meals, not a great selection but what they do they do well. Plenty of room if you don't mind sharing or finding a spot on the lawn

If you're happy to spend a lttle more then this is a romantic, special setting which serves some excellent food. Get pampered at the Church!

The campground is the place to go for ciders, burgers and beers, oh and pizzas too. Just a nice casual atmosphere for all members of the family to relax after a hard day!

Essentials
If you are coming from Auckland and you need groceries, then this is the place to go. You will have to make a slight detour but the prices are good and the selection excellent.

The food is simple but great, pizzas and fish and chips are our go tos. Our favourite cider is the apple crumble, they say it tastes of Christmas and I think they're right! Stays open late if the patronage is there.

If it's raining there is no better place to be than this phenomenal hot spring! It is true delishishnesss but be sure to allow enough time to enjoy the experience. $$

For those that want to see more of the peninsula a trip to New Chums is a good choice. This is rated as one of the best beaches in the world and it is so accessible, just make sure that you set out on the half hour walk at low tide and take some nibbles with you!

For those that want to see more of the peninsula a trip to New Chums is a good choice. This is rated as one of the best beaches in the world and it is so accessible, just make sure that you set out on the half hour walk at low tide and take some nibbles with you!
Catch the ferry from here to Whitianga and back. A ferry is never more than 10 minutes away and it's a fun experience. A short walk around the peninsula starts from here too.

Lonely Bay is a cute little beach next to Cooks Beach. The track to the beach is steep but its inaccessibility is what makes it so nice. Fantastic scenery! If you are not quite so keen on the walking then stay at the top of the peninsula at Shakespear's Cliff. The history is fascinating and the view, wow!

So everyone who comes to Hahei is coming to see the famous Cathedral Cove. Right now the walking track to the cove is shut but don't let that stop you, you can still take a boat trip (Hahei Explorer) or a kayak (Cathedral Cove kayaks). Don't think kayaking is just for the young, most people can do it and if you can't there's always help on hand!
