Nature and Walking Trails

Take a stroll through the beautiful Bayfront Park to unwind and enjoy the scenery. It takes 5 minutes to walk there from 357 MacNab St N. Stop in at Hutch’s for ice cream or a meal on the way! Dundas peak may be the most iconic view in Hamilton with 2 gorgeous waterfalls along the trail. Outstanding views can be seen all along the trail and there is a lovely area for a picnic along the river as well.

Park at Princess Point and follow the trail to Sassafrass Point or visit the Laking Garden, the Rock Garden, Hendrie Park, Cherry Hill Gate, or the Arboretum.

Sir Allen MacNab constructed and called Dundurn Castle home. He was a successful politician, businessman, land speculator and soldier. Sir Allen MacNab also owned the building that you are staying in! 357 MacNab was used as a stable house for Dundurn Castle. Take a tour inside the castle or simply walk around the grounds and enjoy its beauty.

Griffin House was purchased by Enerels Griffin in 1834. Enerels and his wife were enslaved in their early lives, but escaped to Canada in the early 1800’s. This site is an important part of Black History in Canada.

This was the home to the prominent Gage family and the site of the 1813 battle of Stoney Creek. The 100 foot tall battlefield monument is a site to see and representative of peace to commemorate the soldiers who died in the battle.

Best sandwiches in town!! This restaurant’s food is locally sourced and made in house. They specialize in chicken dishes and hearty salads, but as I said, their sandwiches are a must try.
