This hike is a great one for all skill levels. If you want to push yourself or you're a moderate to skilled hiker, continue on the trail past the lake toward the top! The views are beautiful.
Please note that hikes like this are best done in the morning! Storms like to roll in in the afternoon at this elevation and you don't want to be above tree like when they do.

This is a beautiful mountain hike with an excellent lake at the "end". To access Lake Isabelle, use Pawnee Pass Trial starting at Brainard Lake. Please note that this is for the more skilled hikers!
This area does require a timed permit which can be found with a quick search. Alternatively, you can park at the Gateway Trailhead and access by foot.

Lake Isabelle
This is a beautiful mountain hike with an excellent lake at the "end". To access Lake Isabelle, use Pawnee Pass Trial starting at Brainard Lake. Please note that this is for the more skilled hikers!

Echo lake has an easy hike option around the lake, or a moderate option along the ride to Chicago lake. Whichever hike you choose, I'd recommend ending it with pie at the Echo Lake Lodge!

This is my favorite alternative to the red rocks hike. The red rocks hike is pretty short and very crowded. This one is less crowded and far longer but you still get to see those beautiful red rocks! I'd recommend heading all the way up to the overlook. It gets a little steep but it's worth it. Just keep an eye out and give the right of way to mountain bikers!

This is a quick but steep hike. I really like doing this hike when I want a good view and a good workout but don't have tons of time. My favorite time of year to hike this is in the spring and summer when the wildflowers are blooming in full force.

Sightseeing
This is one of the first scenic drives I did after moving to Denver and I've now made it a Thanksgiving tradition. It is absolutely stunning! End your trip with a coffee or a treat in Estes Park and enjoy the sweet mountain air.
Make sure to stop at Saint Catherine's Chapel on the Rock! But if you forget, I'll add that as another point in this guidebook.

This place is absolutely stunning. If you go in the fall or winter months there might be a light dusting of snow on the ground around you and a snow capped mountain heading up to the sky behind the chapel. It's a breathtaking site!
