Beer garden in New Braunfels that is proper cool. Nice beers and schnitzel and in the middle of the farmers market. Krause's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They often have live music, as well.

Very nice seafood restaurant in the restored old post office building downtown. Excellent food. If the wait is long, grab a table in the bar. The shrimp and grits are great and so are the bloody mary's! They often have live music on their patio, which is covered.

If you want a traditional Texas steakhouse experience, this is your place. Not cheap, but worth the cost. The side dishes are amazing!

Wherever you have dinner, come here for dessert. Cool, vibey decor and the best in town. The cupcakes are cool, home-made poptarts are unique and the cookies are thick and chewy! Great coffee and tea selection as well.

Besides the dance hall, this is the most iconic place in Gruene. Onion rings are something to write home about. Also amazing ribs(when they have 'em) and an excellent chicken fried steak. If the wait for a table is long, just chill. Waiting in the beer garden to see your name on the chalkboard is half the fun. Run in the bar and grab some queso and chips and cold Shiner and wait it out!

The Alamo is just within a couple of blocks if you walk thru the Hyatt and out the front door. A really fun evening for all.

This is the best place to eat in the area. When I go, I meet people from Austin, and San Antonio and NB who have driven to Canyon Lake just to eat at Genarro's. Reservations are a must. Be sure to try the garlic knots. And most importantly, they have a location in New Braunfels, but the original Canyon Lake location seems to be the favorite of all the folks I know.

Great mantique store just one block off the square. In the heart of downtown with hella cool stuff imported from Belgium and France. The antiques are unique and the other items are fun. Don't be surprised if they offer you a beer or a glass of wine while you shop. It doesn't happen every day, but many days! This place is an experience.

Outdoor shopping area. High end stores and great places to eat. just east a couple of miles on 1604 there is a large Krispy Kreme location, if you time it right, you could get free dessert on your way home!

Beautiful underground caverns that were only discovered about 60 years ago. Extremely well preserved and breath-taking. They have some fun activities for the little ones as well as a safari park right next door!

Traditional amusement park, part of the six flags family. Great roller coasters, about 7 or 8, I think. All really fun, but it is a long day! Drop off the teens and shop across the street at La Cantera or take dad to Top Golf just one exit away!

Need I say more? It's Top Golf !!!!! Within 5 minuts of Fiesta Texas. Drop the kids off and spend the day with adults !

Upscale movie theatre in San Marcos with leather seats that electrically recline. Excellent menu and drink options with great service. When the movie is over, the bar here is a damn fine place to keep the party going. They also have a hipster-ish bowling alley etc.... It's a great place.

Just enjoy the lake. The water is always cool and refreshing. Rent a boat from the marine or a couple of wave runners. Or just head over by the Dam and walk down to the beach area. Canyon lake is a stunning lake with lovely hill country views all around. The best bbq for 3 counties is from a trailer where the Dam Road turns into River Road in Sattler. I have eaten from this place for 20 years and never been disappointed.

Proper park in central New Braunfels. Lots of local history in the park with a nice lake where you can paddleboat and a mini-train for the kids to take a ride around the park. Great place for a picnic and to spend a lazy afternoon.

Sightseeing
Most stunning views in the area. Nice short drive toward Wimberley and San Marcos. There is a scenic overlook where you can get out and marvel at the view. The Devil's Backbone never gets old.
