A Sean Brock (James Beard winner) restaurant but at a reasonable cost. This is his Mexican restaurant that is located upstairs next to Pearlz. It has an elevator also so no worries. Very pretty setting. The tacos are made in house and the food is fabulous. Try the grilled chicken wings. You won't be disappointed!

This is a great place for coffee, pastries, sandwiches and craft beers! It is a block off of King close to the Francis Marion Hotel and park. You can sit inside or out. We generally sit out in the very nice courtyard that has a small fountain. Very family friendly. It has a great vibe.

Another plantation but very different from Middleton Place. It still has a working farm where we pick strawberries and blueberries. Another beautiful place to be!

The French Quarter neighborhood in downtown Charleston is by far our favorite area of town to walk. The homes, little gardens, churches, etc. need to be experienced. It is quaint with so much history behind it.

Everything Else

It is a small island that is very special. You can go to the beach (station 30 is a favorite) which is very family friendly. Note: there are no bathrooms on this beach. The town has many restaurants that are always crowded and friendly. Poe's is a favorite for great burgers and a restaurant that is right down the street called Obstinate Daughter gets nothing but rave reviews from visitors and local alike. A favorite spot for us to go to is the beach at the cove at Fort Moultrie for sunset. It is a peaceful, stunning place...be aware of when the tides is coming in though or you will not have much beach to sit on!

This is very family friendly beach that is part of the Charleston County Parks department. There are bathrooms and changing rooms, a children's park, picnic area and lifeguard stations. You do need to pay to park. Very nice little hotel, restaurant and shop area right there also. Also a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop.

Historic King Street Shopping ... King Street is Charleston at her best! She has developed into three disinctive areas; the Upper King Street Design and Dining District; in the middle the King Street Fashion District and the Lower King Street Antiques District. On the whole you will find many fun and interesting shops on historic King Street that include antiques, art galleries, book stores, children's clothing, chocolate, cosmetics, gifts, handbags, lingerie, home decor, lighting, women's and men's fashions, stationery, restaurants, and lodging -- each with its own sense of style and flavor, but all uniquely Charleston. Come see what it is all about!
