Anchorage's most popular Pizza Joint. They brew their own beer, and root beer. Have super yummy salads and mozzarella cheese sticks with their homemade "house sauce." And Hungarian Mushroom soup. Good lunch menu. If you go at peak hours, it can be a very long wait. Consider ordering and picking up if you want to be faster. A local FAV!

This is a full bar, but also a very good restaurant. They serve delicious Alaskana type food--Halibut, Salmon, Shrimp. Also they have super good Eggs Benedict on the weekends. It's actually the only thing you can order for breakfast. You can also get a side of Reindeer Sausage or Biscuits and Gravy. Yumm! AND if you want a late night scene, its a popular place for drinks in the evening. Can get pretty full and rowdy late night.

This is two restaurants in one AND a Theatrepub that shows discount movies, and documentaries and things. The Theatrepub side has pizza, burritos and tacos, and you can eat in the restaurant or go to a movie and order food to be delivered to your seat! They have beer or wine in the theater, or you can order a cocktail in the grill next door and bring it over to the theater in a plastic cup. The Grill is on the other side and has fabulous brunch everyday and really yummy dinner food too. Kind of fancy Alaskana Mexicana. Great beer and cocktail selection.

This is the most popular mountain to hike in Anchorage. There are a couple different routes you can take including a walk through the valley "Powerline Pass" and a short paved jaunt up the other side hill for people who want a nice view but can't do the big 45-90 minute walk up the mountain. Very family friendly.

Sightseeing

This place is out in Girdwood like 45 minute drive. My husband used to work here and we know the owners! We also got married here : ) It is one of the most beautiful spots around. It has some of the oldest buildings in the area, and is an historic gold mine. You can learn how to pan for gold, and go down in the river and try to get some yourself! A nice gift shop where you can buy Crow Creek Gold. There are still people gold mining there year round and making a living doing it!! There's also a fabulous hiking trail where you can ride a hand tram across the river, and you can actually walk all the way to the Alyeska Hotel from there and take a bus back in the summertime. Moderate/east terrain
