Edged in history, and hearts, this is one place to see while in Reading. 20 miles or 32 mins drive.

Windsor castle is definitely worth a visit built by William the conqueror in 1070 It has been changed over many centuries to its present magnificent position on the western approaches to London

Windsor Castle is about 3 miles away, so suggest you drive or cycle to Windsor. The walk to Windsor along the Thames Path is longer than the main route by road and a short section is reverts to the roadside through Datchet.

A must see. The castle is used by the Queen and her family for weekends and if you are lucky you may see her whilst walking around the gardens!. You can see the changing of the guard, visit St Georges Chapel. The state rooms are incredible. Our particular favourite is Queen Mary's Doll's house. If you only observe the castle from the outside be sure to be at the top of Prescott Street for the changing of the card at 11.00am. It's free and you won't be disappointed. Windsor also has a good range of bistros and cafes. You can drive (approx 30 mins) or go by train.
