Take the day to drive through Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Cherokee, NC. It's not about getting to Cherokee quickly. It's about the journey along the way. Stop and take photos of the views. Picnic at one of the picnic areas. Hike a trail. Take in the beauty that is GSMNP!

Cherokee is the home of the Qualla Cherokee boundary. This great tourist town has shopping, educational centers, good food, and so much more, all with a Cherokee Native American emphasis.

There are many stores to investigate and several restaurants too. The Native Brews Brewery has some interesting flavors in beers and a fun menu. The Oconaluftee river is very picturesque. There are many trails in this area too.
