Watcombe Beach is a picturesque rural cove in a sheltered position just to the north of Babbacombe. The natural cove found here is an idyllic spot for a picnic. The terrain is a mix of rocks, sand and fine red shingle, flanked by cliffs and backed by dense greenery. There are views out over Babbacombe Bay and over Watcombe Head. Note that the cliffs here are somewhat unstable and rockfalls are possible at any time. There is no parking on the beach itself and cars must be left in the pay-for car park at the end of Moor Lane in Watcombe. From here is a 5-10 minute steep descent through mature woodland to the beach. Access would be difficult for visitors with mobility issues.

Watcombe beach is on the edge of Torquay and has a free carpark where you can park all day (at the time of writing this anyway!). This beach is for people who are fit enough to navigate its steep path down to the cove (it is very steep) but it is much quieter than the other beaches because of this. There are toilets and a cafe at the bottom. Beautiful views.
