Hudson Highlands represents one of the most iconic natural sights of the Hudson Valley. Located at the point where the Hudson River forced its way eons ago through the Appalachian chain , the surrounding state park lands offer manifold opportunities for outdoor recreation all year round, both on the water and in the mountain peaks. The Appalachian Trail crosses the state park and many excellent hiking trails can be found nearby. It is about 12 miles from the Inn.

A mostly undeveloped preserve of nearly 6,000 acres, Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve consists of a series of separate parcels of land stretching from Annsville Creek in Peekskill, north to Dennings Point in Beacon. The spacious park is perfect for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and birding.

The 5.2 miles of trails in this park co-owned by Scenic Hudson, the Town of Cortlandt and Westchester County offer exciting opportunities to explore forests, rock ridges, streams and wetlands, as well as the myriad wildlife dependent upon them.

So many great trails between Cold Spring and Beacon. Can get quite busy on weekends. Hikes have amazing Hudson views at the top.
