Built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this white marble mausoleum stands as a symbol of eternal love. It is rumored that the mausoleum was built over an ancient Shiva temple.

A day trip from Delhi to Agra is ideal for visiting the Taj Mahal. The host can help in arranging a full day cab to see the Taj Mahal. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, it was declared a winner of the New 7 Wonders of the World initiative. Remains closed on Friday. Online ticket booking recommended.
