Ocean Beach is the "capital" of Fire Island. Also home to the most restaurants and bars. Commonly referred to as the "land of no" because of their restrictions (unlike neighboring communities.

Ocean Beach aka “Town” is the largest community on the island with many restaurants and stores. There many wonderful Bay front restaurants/bars open for lunch and dinner in Ocean Beach. Sitting outside you can see some of the sunsets on Fire Island! Highly recommend calling in advance for lunch/dinner reservations in Ocean Beach, especially on weekends. There are also many other amenities and stores such as pizzerias, grocery stores, bakeries, candy and ice cream shops, bars, clothing stores, tourist shops, a playground, a Post Office, and more. Ocean Beach is less than one mile away from our Cottage in Ocean Bay Park, which is about a 10 minute bike ride or an easy 25 minute walk.
