Miles of trails to hike, a creek to cool off in, all kinds of wildlife to observe from birds of all kinds to small mammals, native reptiles and crayfish, this is a great place to spend the day. Bring a picnic lunch, and check out their truly unique environmental library!

Lancaster County Central Park is a very nice park to take the dogs for a hike and swim. There are off leash and on leash areas. There are many entrances to the park. I usually go to the entrance off Eshelman Mill Rd by the Environmental Education Center. 1 Nature’s Way. If you keep driving past the building, you will see a parking loop that dead ends. This is the off-leash section. The on-leash section is basically on the other side of the river. If you walk west about 4/10 of a mile, there is a bridge. Lots of nice trails!

Great place to walk the dog off leash or just take in some City nature. My favorite is the Horse Trail (around a large bend in the creek so it’s almost a circle). Or find the covered bridge and wander around that area.
