This is probably our favorite restaurant in Austin! It has won numerous awards and accolades for its fresh approach to Texas cuisine. It's a very intimate setting, perfect for a special dinner. And the wine garden in back is absolutely gorgeous. It's great for a more casual gathering, and even good for kids, with a big open green space (we call it the "Fairy Garden").

Casual, fun Japanese dishes and fresh sushi. Be sure to check out their happy hour, there are some great deals. And the sake punches are delicious and refreshing! The weekend brunch is very good, and unique from the usual brunch fare.

The people watching is almost as great as the coffee! They have good snacks and frequently have live music, but it is always a scene. Every Sunday they host live music, and you'll probably want your photo taken in front of the "I Love You So Much" mural!

Yes this is a very "hip" eatery, but it also happens to have a delightful menu of moderately priced, simple, DELICIOUS food. It has a lovely outdoor area and also a bright and cheery dining room. The burger is killer!

Parks & Nature
This expansive and beautiful park is just around the corner from our house. From the playground at the north end of the park, to the year-round swimming pool at the south end, there's a little something for everyone - families, dog-walkers, nature buffs and joggers. And it's a great place to crash with a picnic and listen to the mourning doves. But watch out for poison ivy in the spring and summer!

This is the highest peak in Austin! The staircase to the top provides a great little workout. The view from the top is amazing, and worth the climb. You can walk back down on one of the nature trails. And it's a great place for sunset watching.
