Brilliant cafe, with great coffee and delicious food in the pretty nearby village of Great Tew. Great Tew is a 5 minute drive from the house but you can walk there too (we have provided details of the walk in the cottage).

The Lamb Inn
The Ox Barn at Thyme is expensive but worth it. The food is really good and the bath as a setting is really beautifully done. We’ve had both lunch and dinner here and highly recommend it!

Sightseeing
Blenheim Palace is a stunning 17th century country house and the birthplace of Winston Churchill, which is well worth a visit. You can visit the palace itself, or you can spend time enjoying the stunning gardens. It is perfect for families, with a miniature train line in the gardens too. There is a cafe on site.

Oxford is a 30 minute drive from the cottage. Oxford, home to the University of Oxford, is a beautiful city with much to see including the famous Ashmolean Museum Library and the Bodlean Library.

Family activities
This is a great farm to go to for children. It’s very hands on with lots of animals to feed and there are play areas both inside and outside. There’s a mud kitchen, trampling, soft play area etc. good cafe too! We go with the grandkids and love it.
