An excellent Thai restaurant across from the University campus. It has been voted best restaurant in town. It is small, and there may be times when you’ll have to wait for a seat. I especially recommend the panang curry and the mango chicken.

Culture and Cultural Icons
The Museum of Nebraska Art, in the beautiful old post office, is a must see. There are often special exhibits, workshops, and artist talks. However, the museum has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns.

If you're interested in history, the Archway provides an immersive experience of the Great Platte River Road from the time of the Oregon Trail. It is well worth seeing.

Only about a mile away from A Simple Place, Yanney Park is the place to go for hiking, biking, a climbing tower, outdoor theater, fishing, splash grounds for the kids, and the city Senior Center. From Yanney Park you can get on the trail north to the University campus and Cottonmill Park or south to the Archway and Fort Kearney. Yanney also offers the entrance landing for a 2.3 mi water trail for kayaking and canoeing.

Harmon Park is in the middle of the old city. I have many memories of ambling through the rock garden, picnicking, and listening to a band at the outdoor Sonotorium on summer Sunday evenings. There's a large playground for the kids, the main municipal swimming pool, tennis courts, and more.
