The Depot Street Market offers homemade meals (frozen or fresh) which can be heated at home. Don't feel like going to a restaurant for dinner or lunch? Take a look at their amazing menu and bring your selection back to the house and enjoy it here. Try that OMG Chicken - our family's favorite! Located inside the gas station at one of the town's rotaries and in the heart of Duxbury, Gunter Tooties will provide you with awesome bagels. (Closer to the house you can find bagels, muffins, and coffee at Uncommon Grounds at 282 Saint George Street - about 1/4 miles down the street toward the traffic light. Look for it behind Far Far's ice cream shop.)

The Jetty offers a unique pub-style menu with cool twists as well as live music many nights (and Sunday brunch). Located in Brant Rock on the ocean's edge, we always have enjoyed our meals there, as well as the musicians.

Known for a very special menu and set in an old, rambling Cape Cod style house, this more pricey but delicious tavern never disappoints. Reservations recommended

If you appreciate a good burger, THIS is your spot. The menu varies with seasonal specials, but it also has its regular menu, with each burger being so special you'll think: "Why didn't I think of this combination?". We find ourselves returning again and again to try out yet another new option on that menu. And don't get me started on the truffle fries.....

Find out how the pilgrims lived, when they first arrived in the area in 1620. Experience encounters with these first settlers in the open-air museum, complete with costumes and historical re-enactors, who have no idea that time has progressed beyond their era. Ask them about electricity or telephones and you will be met by a blank look. The Plimouth Plantation is closed during the winter months, but there is an inside farmer's market during that time in the vistor center.

Parks & Nature

This is our local beach and one needs a permit to park on the East end of the long wooden bridge during the summer season. If you get lucky and can find a parking spot in the small lot on the western end of the bridge, you can walk across and enjoy the beach for free. From Labor Day to Memorial Day one can park in the beachside parking lot for free. (Summertime options: If you can't find a spot, make your way over to Duxbury Beach Park where you can park for a fee, but also enjoy amenities such as a restaurant, changing areas, restrooms, and an ice cream stand.)

Miles and miles of trails through pine woods and cranberry bogs as well as wildlife sanctuaries make you forget how closer you actually are to civilization. Be sure to look at a map before you go, or better yet, bring one along with you. There really are MILES of trails to explore - and one can easily get lost if one doesn't pay attention to the well-marked paths
