There are many things to be enjoyed at Johnstown Castle. woodland, park and lake walks, walled gardens, a playground the agricultural museum (a family favourite) a tour of the castle a Café and gift shop

Johnstown castle is a lovely 12th century castle with lots of activities to be experienced. There are a few peacocks roaming the grounds and is a very magical experience.There is an entrance fee of 9 euro for an adult, 4 euro for a child (children under 5 is free).

This lovely place with agricultural place and tearooms has very good reviews. it is dog friendly and it is very good value with free car park. I hope they do not charge for other things.

There is a guided castle tour which you can book online or visit the Gardens or Irish Agricultural Museum (self-guided) Take a look at the fascinating Irish Agricultural Museum which displays one of the most comprehensive exhibits of farming and rural life in Ireland Explore over 4km of the picturesque lake and ornamental garden walks – including the fully accessible new 1.5km lower lake walk, great for all members of the family including our dog friends! Take your children to the new woodland children’s play area beside the new lower lake walk. Relax with your picnic around the lakes and watch the peacocks strut by displaying their finery at the castle lakeside with its Gothic towers, waterfall and statues.

A wonderful place to spend 2-3 hours on your own or with your family and friends.Take in the beautiful gardens, walks around the lakes,the agricultural museum and tours of the 19th century castle .There is a childrens play area and a cafe for refreshments. Its well worth a visit.
