Stephanie's dad is a Civil War buff and loves to give tours of this battlefield which he regards as the most important of the Civil War. Stop by the visitors' center for an excellent display and speak with the rangers about the history of this piece of land.
The Monocacy National Battlefield is the site of the Battle of Monocacy, which was also known as the “Battle That Saved Washington,” which was fought on July 9, 1864, during the American Civil War.
