A gentle stroll along the historic C&O canal is perfect for everyone. While this is the closest entrance there are many with different historical aspects. It’s an easy bike ride to Harpers Ferry and Maryland Heights and back in a day.

Nicely intact C&O canal lock (dry, non functioning). Walk across the footbridge to the left of the point in lower town Harpers Ferry. Once across the bridge, it has a long spiral staircase to get down to the C&O canal towpath.

Awesome spot to bike/run/walk as well as swim in the river, ~5 mins from the farm. Would recommend biking towards Harpers Ferry rather than towards Brunswick/DC - better views of the river that way. Although if you bike into Brunswick, you can stop and get ice cream at Towpath Creamery right by the train station. In addition, you can bike back to the farm via the nice paved bike/walking trails through the Brunswick Crossing neighborhood which you can find across the street from the West End Park in downtown Brunswick.
