Tart serves the most delicious tarts (unsurprisingly given it's name), alongside delicious salads - made from unusual ingredients, like black rice and mango. It's well located too - directly opposite Clapham Common!

Tart occupies one of the primmest of prime locations, facing Clapham Common and between the tube station and Clapham Old Town. As such it has an uninterrupted flow of commuters, coffee seekers, yummy mummies and self-employed flâneurs passing by its portals every day. The window display of tarts is appealing: not quite quiches, definitely not pies, but high-sided tarts with savoury fillings. Our chorizo and roasted pepper tart, and the rather more unusual pear and Parma ham, both had pleasingly firm pastry and were freshly made. The accompanying salads (£8.50 for the combo) also showed more imagination than usual with flavour explosions such as black rice and mango or roast beetroot with orange. But where this café may disappoint is the lack of variety and choice: if you don't want a tart and salad, you'd better go to one of Clapham's many other good cafés.
