The neighborhood of Rockaway Beach is a long stretch of boardwalk along the beach in Queens and home to a diverse intersection of communities. It’s amazing that you can be in New York City while watching the sunset over ocean waves. Since you’re already in Queens, check out Edgemere Farm, too—an urban farm with a rustic barn, restaurants, and events. If you’re looking for peace and calm, it’s quieter in the winter. And in the summer, there’s a lot going on!

Beach goers can enjoy the sand and water, the variety of concessions, and the city's only legal surfing beach, located between 67-69 Street and 87-92 Street. Easily accessible via NYC Transit system. Plan your trip via www.MTA.info.
The Rockaways are a thin barrier island that separates NYC from the Atlantic Ocean. A haven for surfers, the area is sort of like the NYC version of Venice Beach. A great day trip with lots to see and do.
Sunbathers and surfers flock to this residential neighborhood for oceanfront fun. The area has the only two surf beaches in the City (immortalized in the Ramones song “Rockaway Beach”), along with fishing spots and numerous playgrounds for kids. But it’s not just a summertime destination. Rockaway Beach offers plenty to do year-round: shopping at independent boutiques, checking out the art and history at Fort Tilden and snacking at a growing crop of eateries that maintain the laid-back vibe of the coastal neighborhood.
