Ortaköy (literally Middle Village in Turkish) in Greek known as Agios Fokas (Άγιος Φωκάς) in the Byzantine period and Mesachorion (Μεσαχώριον, meaning "middle village") later, is a neighbourhood, formerly a small village, within the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey, located in the middle of the European bank of the Bosphorus.
In the center of Ortaköy is the seafront square, where crowds gather and listen to music at improvised concerts or sip their tea on the café terraces. Stands selling waffles and baked potatoes share the streets with souvenir stalls. The magnificent, magnificent illuminated Ortaköy Mosque is located in the shadow of the Bosphorus Bridge on the edge of the Bosphorus. In the evening, luxury restaurants and clubs nearby are filled with an elegant crowd.
