A popular spot for serious Hikers at 4,458 feet high. Highest point on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. Incredible view at the top and a Shelter that was built in the 1930s and serves as an overnight option for thru hikers. For experienced Hikers.
Only for those who enjoy a good hike - Worth the hike. Not an easy hike but well worth. Once you get to the overlook, you just want to sit there and enjoy the view and cool breeze. We did the Byron Reece trailhead and it was close to 5 miles. We definitely took our time going up. Going down is easy as expected - Use Byron Reece trailhead parking.
